The PFM Universal Twin Lever System

PFM Performance Brakes Ltd manufactures the PFM Universal Twin Lever System in Peel on the Isle of Man. This precision-engineered control unit allows a rider to operate two hydraulic systems with one hand. As a result, it provides an effective adaptation for many disabled motorcyclists.

Why Choose the PFM Universal Twin Lever System?

The PFM Universal Twin Lever System combines strength, adjustability and compact design. In addition, it delivers smooth and reliable hydraulic control for a wide range of motorcycles, trikes and sidecar outfits.

Key Features:

  • Specifically designed and developed for disabled motorcyclists
  • Two hydraulic master cylinders machined from high-spec billet aluminium housed as a single unit
  • Mounts with a single handlebar clamp
  • Single hydraulic reservoir
  • Ergonomically designed levers allow for both cylinders to be operated, separately or simultaneously with the fingers of one hand.
  • Can be used for left-hand operation or right-hand operation.
  • A wide range of adjustment allows it to be configured to suit the individual rider.
  • Used to operate front brake control and clutch control, it is a suitable adaptation for a rider with a disability affecting the function of an arm or hand.
  • Used to operate front brake control and rear brake control, it is a suitable adaptation for a rider with a disability affecting the function of their right leg.
  • Can also be utilised as a front brake control and sidecar brake control.
  • Suitable for use on motorcycles, trikes and sidecar outfits.
  • Suitable for use on 7/8” or 1″ handlebars.
  • Often supplied by the NABD as part of an Adaptation Grant.

The PFM twin lever system is currently only available as a dual hydraulic unit, but it can be combined with an additional hydraulic-to-cable adaptation kit, to facilitate the operation of a cable-operated clutch or a cable-operated brake.

Hydraulic pipes and reservoir are not supplied with this kit because they need to be purchased specifically to suit the model of motorcycle or trike they are to be used on.

Flexible Control Options

Riders can configure the PFM Universal Twin Lever System to operate:

  • Front brake and clutch control

  • Front brake and rear brake control

  • Front brake and sidecar brake control

Therefore, riders with reduced function in one arm or hand can maintain full braking and clutch control. Likewise, riders with limited right-leg function can transfer braking control to the handlebar.

Currently, PFM supplies this system as a dual hydraulic unit only. However, riders can combine it with a hydraulic-to-cable adaptation kit to operate a cable clutch or cable brake.
